Coffee Talk: THQ Ships the Fairly Oddparents: Enter the Cleft

CALABASAS HILLS, CA, November 12, 2002 – THQ® Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI), the #1 kids’ videogame publisher, and Nickelodeon, the #1 entertainment brand for kids, today announced that The Fairly OddParents!™: Enter The Cleft is now available for Game Boy® Advance. Nickelodeon’s “The Fairly OddParents!” is the third most popular show for kids on all broadcast and cable television. The first licensed videogame to be released for under the Fairly OddParents brand, The Fairly OddParents!: Enter The Cleft for Game Boy Advance is now available at retailers nationwide.

"There are currently more than 18 million Game Boy Advance units in households across the world," stated Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American Publishing, THQ. "The popularity of The Fairly OddParents continues to build and we are thrilled that our master licensing deal with Nickelodeon allows us to bring this top-rated Nickelodeon television show to millions of gamers."

“Throughout our longstanding relationship, THQ has turned out compelling Game Boy Advance titles which have proven to be valuable brand extensions for our Nickelodeon properties,” said Steve Youngwood, Vice President, Nickelodeon Media Products Group. “The quirky humor and retro-style animation of the show translate well to Game Boy Advance, and we are confident The Fairly OddParents!: Enter The Cleft will be a hit among fans of the TV show and Game Boy Advance owners alike.”

In The Fairly OddParents!: Enter The Cleft for Game Boy Advance, the player controls Timmy’s superhero alter-ego, Cleft the Boy Chin Wonder, as he enters the world of his favorite comic book hero, the Crimson Chin. The player must rescue the Crimson Chin from captivity by defeating enemies and overcoming obstacles along the way in this side-scrolling, action-packed videogame. Timmy’s quirky Fairy Godparents, Cosmo and Wanda, whose wacky antics often stir up more trouble than help, appear throughout the 20 levels to offer their own strange attempts at assistance. Cosmo and Wanda supply Timmy items to use in his journey -- some of which are key in defeating the captors. Throughout The Fairly OddParents!: Enter The Cleft, gamers move through several environments, including the Comic Book World, the Primitive Age, the Present World and the Future World.

THQ is the exclusive videogame publisher for Nickelodeon’s individual animated television and movie properties targeting kids 6-11. To date, THQ/Nickelodeon videogame sales exceed $250 million worldwide at retail.
